Utility to open clicked link in SAME window? Like the links HERE at this forum.

It irritates me for clicked links to open in new window. Without going through the hassle to right-click, select Open in New Tab (which is not the same window anyway and there is no option) is there a utility to override sites such as THIS FORUM so that no clicked links open in a new window?

Firefox 1.5 has an option that forces sites that open new
windows to open in a new tab but it still won't open a link
from this page in a new tab without right clicking it. I'd
like to have the option that you seek also.

At some point that open or not to open new window will be a user option. As the stock code works, it is one way or the other... and went with the majority on it.

Lots of stuff in the works all around.

command-click forces open in tab

command-w closes the top window
and/or the top tab.

I prefer opening in a new window.
I find myself control-clicking links on sites that don't open clicked links in new windows.

command- <-- is such a pain on dial-up when everything has to reload.

command-w became second nature when Safari used to open a blank window when DL a pdf file.

Firefox 1.5 with the Tab Mix Plus extension should do what you need it to do.

i actually like it that this forum opens links in a new window however, i just set Tab Mix Plus (Firefox extension) to 'open links in new tab in same window' and it did override the forum option.

give Tab Mix Plus a try as it has lots of different option combinations. this is one of my favorite firefox toys.

On my MS Intellimouse, center-clicking (clicking with the wheel button) is the same as command-clicking (appears to be the default behavior for OS X, as I don't have the MS Mouse software installed).

It is what it is.
