Got My Harmony 880

Well, I finally got my Harmony 880. I had a 680, so its not much different except for the color screen and rechargeable batts. These remotes are awesome. I installed my IR Dimmer switches and now my lights are controlled by the remote. This is definitely the best and easiest remote I've ever used. The nice thing is that I dont need all the functionlity that each seperate remote provides at all times...things like setup, etc. Its nice that mom can now come over and actually be able to turn on the tv without asking for help!

Amen. I have the 688 and it's the best universal remote I've ever had.

676.

Love/Hate

Still working on how to set up all the intricate functions involved in using both my HD PVR and my Samsung DVD recorder.

I want to set it up to work so that the two components work together when recording from the PVR and separately when recording directly off the line input.

Because both units have like commands it's been hard to figure out howcontrol both separately.

I also have had problems with my TV and receiver turning on but not my cable box/PVR and vice versa.

So a few glitches, but not enough to not want to work through the set up to get it to work.

Tech support has been great.

Btw, got it for $90 on eBay! I felt it was more desirable model, price vs function, than the 880 since it seems to be able to do everything that the 880 does and I use rechargeables anyway.

Sure beats having six remotes :^)

I got my 880 just after Christmas.

First one was broken (would reboot randomly). Logitech Tech Support was slow and mistake ridden (couldn't find my tickets, never followed through, etc). Last week, I finally got my new unit and put it into service - it has replaced 6 other remotes.

So far, it is an adequate replacement. There are still a few lingering issues, but they are small enough that it won't be a big deal if I can figure a way around it. I guess it is a good sign (or bad, depending how you look at it) that my wife can finally operate the home theater.

My SO is technically challenged and probably will never learn more than on/off, volume up/down and channel up/down.

I love mine. I am STILL in the midst of programming everything in it. Let me ask this, is there a way to skip the macros? Its nice to have everything turn on at once and so forth, but my setup is such that once everything is on, everything is on. I just need to switch sources. But i cannot seem to figure out how to skip the "turn this item on and turn this item off etc" part of the macro.

Hitting the "Device" button allows you to control devices independently.

Or, if you plan on leaving things on permanently, you can go into the device configuration via the webapp and set the device to not be turned on and off as part of the macro.

Its been a while since I fooled with. i've had some other stuff come up in the past couple months that kind of pushed the "program remote control" task to the back burner. I plan on setting it up once and for all soon.
