Parallels upgrade to 3.0 - worth the money?

It seems to me that the only notable new feature is DirectX support. If I don't play games, is there any use to upgrading? Am I missing something?

I own the older version, and I am suspicious that the special deal that was offered is because at the WWDC in the morning there will be some sort of Apple solution that will make Parallels unnecessary.

I'm willing to bet that Apple WILL talk about Boot Camp and WILL improve it, but WILL NOT do so to the extent that Parallels is rendered obsolete. They caught a LOT of flack and made a LOT of people angry when they essentially screwed Karelia Software out of their Sherlock-like (but better) product, only to abandon the technology in favour of better ideas.

It's possible that Apple will just BUY Parallels, but I'd put the odds of that a little low right now. Check back in a year.

Another remote possiblity will be that Apple says "we like Parallels' solution better. We're going to give them our Boot Camp source code and let them be the official Windows solution provider." This would get Apple OUT of the "supporting Windows" business, which they'd be HAPPY to do, but again I don't think this terribly likely.

No, I think I'm going to stick with my original prediction: Hagrid will die in the last book protecting Harry, who will survive. SORRY, I mean I think Boot Camp will be improved to be more compatible with, but not replace, Parallels.
