Steve will personally thank me for inventing the iPhone interface, which will truely revolutionize everything.

I will be called up on stage, given a free iPhone, but I'll already have one in my pocket.

Also, Leopard.

Software. Leopard, obviously. New iWork and iLife apps.

There has to be one or two killer apps in Leopard. Cutting and pasting a portion of a web page into dashboard has been mentioned.

Gotta be something new about how to get around in Finder. Core Animation has to be the basis. The Finder will have cool stuff like the iPhone from an interface standpoint, even if it doesn't have multitouch.

I think 10.0 to Tiger has been just getting the original ideas for OSX up and running. I think Leopard will be the beginning of a major change to OSX, taking advantage of the new horsepower in current machines.

Hardware. I'd love to see an iPod with the iPhone interface. No phone. Maybe no PDA stuff even, though that would be cool. I'd love an iPhone minus the phone to replace my Palm and iPod.

Gotta say something about the Mini. I'd love to see a C2D with full size 7200 rpm internal drive. A headless iMac.

Don't ask who the bell's for, dude. It's you.

A little bit of Leopard news. Vista is out, so we could see *all* the super secrets.

iLife '07, probably. iWorks '07, with a real WP emphasis on Pages.

And maybe a new iMac form factor. The end of the 17"? Maybe. The rumor is a silver bezel, with uniform borders all around the screen. That would make it look much like a regular display, especially if the displays had an iSight. "No" on the silver for me. Black or white would be just fine.

I don't know about new displays. No LED displays. None for the 17" MPB, so it wouldn't seem too likely that the larger displays would have them. I've seen mention of people wanting an iSight and an IR sensor for Front Row. I'm guessing no on a 30" ACD.

I'd like to see a C2D mini. I'm in want of an encoding Mac, and that would fit the bill. Or drive the price of the CD minis down some.

Too soon for a 3.5" Cube ll or the lesser headless iMac.

Final prediction: Ballmer will not show up on stage to do an homage to the developers with his famous Monkey Boy dance.

The WWDC has traditionally been light on announcements that don't really concern developers. I think the one exception will be IF Apple has decided to incorporate Google Apps into .Mac and/or iWork 07 and/or formed a general deeper partnership. They will need to let the devs get the conjoined Apple/Google APIs to start adding Internet Apps.

We may well see a new Mac Pro model, and perhaps new displays. I keep hoping (probably in vain) for a Mac/PC USB2-based standalone iSight camera. This would eliminate the need for (a cross-platform) iChat to work with the existing (ie very poor) IM services, and entice people to stop using 3-4 different service in favour of The One. smiling smiley

Most of the talk will be about Leopard, though I think we can reasonably expect a detailed iPhone demo now that Steve has said they will -- in the future -- allow third-party apps to work with the iPhone.

I think the announcements that will really excite consumers will, for the most part, not be present -- those will come at separate events later in the year, starting of course with the iPhone (which I think will dominate the entire summer). Not expecting new iMacs till September. New non-phone iPods in Sept or Oct. MacBooks with LED backlighting: Jan.

Just got back from the local ATT/Cingular store getting a new number.

Grain of salt alert:

Second gen iPhone due out in September, with 3G tech.

He said that they already have people planning to camp out for a phone.
Oh, and adding a second line of service for $9.99 per month qualifies you to buy an iPhone.
He said that as he was looking at my Treo, and asking how interested I was in purchasing the iPhone to go along with it!
