I had read about that here, but it is cool that those guys picked up the story. They really should get someone to spell check their copy though. I saw at least two glaring errors, and I'm a horrible speller.

"tecnical process of opening the iPod casing without damage, installing a higher capacity NewerTech NuPower battery-- all with his eyes completely covered. Dresser then sealed each iPod's casing to a like-new appearance in perfect working order, boradcast on an..."

I added the bold.

those typos are a bit annoying - have to see where they happened - don't think they were in our release. Lot of places picked that up including a couple local papers doing their own reviews now.

A customer dared Jamie to do it - and he said why not. became a standing room only 'attraction' for each of the iPod installation segments he did for the rest of the Macworld show.

If Jamie can do it blindfolded to random customer's iPods - shows pretty much anyone ought to be able to do them with eyes open and our installation instructions and videos to draw on... at least for 1/2/3/4G models. smiling smiley

...still recommend pro install for the mini - although it's straight up too as long as follow the instructions and watch the video to learn the process. the mini is a lot more involved than the 1-4G models.

LOL! Taller- I did truly LOL. I'm 6'4" - much taller and I'd hit my head everywhere. :>)

And the typos were not, and are not, in our PR.

[eshop.macsales.com]

It was a fun challenge. It was actually our announcer, a local SFO person who watched me doing the upgrades, and said he thought I could do it blindfolded. I said I probably could - and he showed up the next day with a blindfold and challenged me to it at the first installation. The customer was understandably nervous, but I did it in just less than 5 minutes, a 2nd in about 4, and a 3rd in about 3. Had to peek with one as the iPod was full of sand - and I was concerned about contamination on some of the connectors I had to plug in, that would have not done them good. Was A-OK. Even tried it eyes closed back home now and can do it in 2 minutes or less.

And, even more fun - had a customer ask how fast I could change a battery, and by his stopwatch it was 47 seconds. No joke. :>)

Thanks!

You need a better costume.

Jamie even without the blindfold you're a natural showman. Highlight of the show plus a place to sit.
