Looking to hear experiences of anyone who has bought a used iPod from one of the online retailers like Small Dog, etc.?

Small Dog are good people, but if it were anyone but them, OWC and perhaps a couple of other trusted names in the biz I'd be incredibly cautious.

By "used" you aren't talking about an Apple "refurb", right? If you're getting a true Apple factory refurb, I wouldn't worry at all about it, but "used" is a different meaning, and unless the price was way too low to pass up, I'd pass and get a true refurbed 'pod.

I'm not speaking from any personal experience of buying a used iPod, but that's just my opinion in general on the "used" v. "refurb" situation. My son bought a refurb iPod from Apple.com a couple of years ago, and it was pristine - I wouldn't hesitate to get one of them again.

I agree on Small Dog. I bought my Apple Factory refurbished iMac from them and have been completely satisfied with it. I was looking at the used iPods at Small Dog but was curious of any others that might exist. Thanks.

Nope, not an Apple refurb, but actually used. I'm quite leary of used iPods due to not knowing how old the battery is and how much life it has left in it. Also, hard drive life expectancy could be an issue. I haven't really seen a price that is attractive enough to make me put my reservations aside, yet.

I've got an Apple factory refurbished iMac that I purchased from SmallDog.com and I've been completely satisfied with it. Would probably purchase Apple factory refurbished again. Thanks.
