Need a iSync and bluetooth compatible phone from Verizon.

My wife takes care of our cell phone plans. She gets a price break from work with Verizon and takes care of us and all the kids with a family plan. She is going to sign up and get new phones. I hate using them and only use them when I absolutely have to. I want iSync and bluetooth and a camera would be nice. I could care less about any other features. Does Verizon have any that have these features? Again, stuck with Verizon cause she pays the bill.

Thanks

I would be curious about this as well. I'm in a similar situation.

Good luck with that–that's why i left Verizon. (That, and Amazon paid me $180 to take the SE T610 in addition to giving me a free Jabra BT headset to switch to T-Mobile)

AFAIK, Verizon phones have the BT capability, they just cripple them so you can't sync them.

I currently have the Verizon KRZR K1M and it syncs contacts via bluetooth (10.4.9), has a (crappy) camera, a speakerphone, removable memory (1GB MicroSD card was under $13 at Amazon [www.amazon.com]) and is very compact (will easily fit in your pocket).

I wanted a phone to be a phone and if you want the phone to sync with your contact list (as of now, it will not sync with iCal, unless there is a hack that I don't know of yet). Nice phone so far.

Also, check out your wife's discounts further. My wife gets a discount from Verizon as well, but you know what, she gets one from AT&T/Cingular as well. I might switch to the iphone if the deal is good enough and chance the early adopter BS. (after all, I'm still rockin' my OG 1st Gen 5Gig iPod…

Sadly, Verizon gets the best coverage by far in my area... so we are stuck with it for now.

I have a motorola E815. You have to patch the phone with a SEEM hack. Look into howardsforums and they have explicit instructions...it's also a good place to go and find instructions/information about VZ phones. The 1 megapixel camera is not bad at all.

Overall, I'd say that the e815 is a really good phone. I've used it almost a year and a half (not sure if VZ still uses this phone). I get OBEX after the hack so that I can copy from and store items to the phone via BT. I was also able to customize my ring tone with the Klingon march theme.

Basically Verizon locks the functionality out of their phone so you have to use their online and $$ services to move stuff around. My RAZR V3m is able to isync contacts and calendar via bluetooth out of the box, but it does NOT always work, and there's no rhyme or reason to it.

For moving photos and videos from the little camera, I just pull the micro CD card and stick it into a reader on the MacBook, then suck 'em into iPhoto.

As noted above, there are people who have hacked their phones by using the Motorola tool software (which is a Windows only tool, and DOES backup and synch contacts and calendar very well, but just with Outlook (eeech).) and various h4x0r tools to 'seem edit' or otherwise hack the 'PRAM" of the phone.

YMMV, may violate warranty, Verizon may disavow all knowledge of you, etc.. It's worse than pulling the tag off the mattress...

Oh, and the 'music player' is WMA only- had to use the windows box to move and 'convert' music to play on it.

I have a motorola e815 and out of the box no hacks, I can use bluetooth to sync with ical and address book only, can't use bluetooth to transfer files, ringtones or any of that stuff but it will sync my contacts and calenders. It also has a 1.3megapixel camera, that's "decent" for a cell phone camera. It's a pretty rugged little phone and I'm happy with it, no idea if they still sell it though.

most of the available Moto cells will iSync and/or BT with VZW.
But they usually require discovery from the Mac to the cell, not the cell to the Mac.

I've been using LGs for the last 3 years or so. They sync well via BitPim and they are actually built well.
Moto I've found to be very hit and miss. They have become an electronics consolidator for small stuff, so who knows whats in the phone. Kind of like Chinese gluten.
The 815 was their only good phone.

Vzw does suck as a company, but their coverage is by far they best anywhere I go. The same cannot be said for the other kids. I hope that the iPhone will help T straighten up their act, but I ain't holding my breath.

You can flash the Verizon Razr's with Alltel's firmware. From what I understand, it restores Bluetooth functionality and improves the user interface. VW is terrible with what they do to phones. Hopefully the iPhone will be incredibly successful and force them to re-evaluate how they cripple phones.
