Tiger eye candy: how to make it happen?

remember seeing some cool effects that were part of the OS interface, back when I saw the Tiger intro at the Apple store. These were only available if one had a graphics card that supported Core Image. I'm not seeing them, and wonder if I'm messing a setting somewhere…

WHAT MAC HARDWARE DO YOU HAVE!

BGnR
I hate to yell but you asked a question that absolutely requires that info.

"Good heavens, Miss Sakamoto! You're beautiful!"
"If we dig precious things from the land, we will invite disaster."
"Near the day of Purification, there will be cobwebs spun back and forth in the sky."
"A container of ashes might one day be thrown from the sky, which could burn the land and boil the oceans."

Perhaps you're referring to the screen flipping that occurs when switching from one user account to another?

I think that the RSS and Spectrum screensavers require at least Quartz Extreme and may be what you're thinking of.

No, every card I've used in this machine has had Quartz Extreme capability, including the stock 32MB Nvidia.

Grim, yes, that ripple effect is what I remember from the demonstration at the launch. Also the screen flipping.

This card seems very nice so far (it came yesterday, and was installed last night): there is a noticeable improvement in performance. Here's something I hadn't anticipated: I've had to adjust my mouse tracking (to slower) since installing the card: the cursor was moving too fast!

I was not sure that this card would ever be available, but here it is:
