I've seen comments about popping issues with the 10.4.10 update but I haven't read anything about what I've encountered. I'm using a G5 Dual 1.8 and I just moved up to Tiger yesterday. (I was using 10.3.9.) I did an Archive and Install to try to minimize problems. I repaired permissions before and after the install.
After installing Tiger, I did a software update as per my regular routine when installing a new OS. After the 10.4.10 update, my alert sounds are a little wacky. I usually use "Glass" as my alert sound. I set it up in System Preferences and got the usual "clink" when I checked the volume. But, when I adjust the volume from the sound button on the menu bar, I get a sound similar to a "quack." (It's a sound that isn't even listed in the system preferences.)
On top of that, the sound in Mail.app is messed up, too! I set it up for "Glass", as well but that's not the sound I hear there.
Obviously, none of this is a major problem but it's an annoyance. After discovering the sound oddities, I downloaded the 10.4.10 combo updater and ran it to see if it would clear it up but it's the same.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Michael
