Cleaning a black Macbook.

What gets rid of the oil that appears from your palms, and fingers around the lower keyboard, and touchpad. Should I have applied those thin plastic protectors I got when I bought the Macbook?

Windex and a Kleenex? Those moist wipe ems for babies?

Warm water and a clean, lint-free cloth (or a micro-fiber cloth). Don't use Windex (ammonia).

I also keep some of this stuff around, but only when a friend or client brings me a supremely messy Mac: [www.amazon.com]

Agree with warm water, lint free rag. Ammonia will play havoc with finish and with electronics in general.

For extra greasy Macbooks, I have read that the Magic Eraser sponges work well. Google it.

The matte black books really show the marks, though....I shrouded mine with a rubber keyboard shield, and a Speck hard shell.

I also got a clear Speck shell for mine. Now, I just have to clean the screen with a soft slightly damp cloth once in a while.
