I wonder if closing most of the CompUSA stores affected this at all. I believe his company owns the chain. Probably only a drop in the bucket for him.

Carlos makes CompUSA just the best.

Ponder this sentence from the story;

"This is estimated to have boosted his fortune to an estimated $67.8bn (£33.6bn) - equivalent to 8% of Mexico's gross domestic product"

Call me whatever ill-educated name you wish, but I do not believe any single person should hold so much wealth.

outcast,

I'm a capitalist. But I agree. So, I'm a poor (not held in high esteem) capitalist, I guess. smiling smiley

If they earn it, they can have it.
Otherwise, WHO gets to decide that "they shouldn't have it"? You? Me?

Guess what... every time THAT game gets played, the line of what constitutes rich enough to get fleeced ends up a LOT lower than the people who thought it was a good idea would like. It usually encompasses THEM too.

Give anyone (or any government) the power to take from the rich by force, and they'll take from EVERYONE by force.

Totally agree Paul.

That's where the immovable object meets irresistible force for me.

No man is worth that much more than any other man, IMO..

But, who's to say? NOT ME... I wholeheartedly admit.

Still, it seems inequitable.

But, I have no disdain for the man. But I DO have pity for other Mexicans that he might have built his empire on the backs of.

I WOULD like to be in his will, too. smiling smiley

Well, a lot of what Slim has now he got by bribing the right government officials.

Who's to say he earned it? Especially when you're able to pay to have laws legislated to favor you. The rich don't need anyone's help to protect them. It's the other way around.
