If that test is accurate, my Edge is clipping along at 230 kbps. Not too shabby?

Nice. I'm getting 70k here according to that site and that's about what I expect.

(Not using an iPhone.)

183 kbps for me
What does that convert to in Mb/s or whatever the standard broadband uses like 1.5 Mbs?

I read on HowardFourms, that due to latency and some other factors that the speeds displayed on phones may not be correct since it is testing the speed from the test site to the ATT server--and doesn't necessarily reflect the actual phone download speed.

Whatever is it--I am VERY impressed with Google maps using the EDGE..It is as fast as regular Google maps on DSL

Thanks! You know how hard it is to find a test like this? The key is not having not be Flash based.

I rank it 5 times, got the nice "not an iPhone message" but average around 450kbps. Signal strength isn't the best here. I'll try it again when I have better signal.

This is with a Sprint phone, so this doesn't just test Edge & Wifi, but bandwidth overall.

155, then 97 on EDGE. Although EVDO can be far faster on my Treo 700p, it ends up slowed due to random resets and 30 seconds of white screen when launching the browser.

1163 on Wifi
148 on EDGE

So it's certainly slower, but not as bad as I'd feared. Could be a lot better, though, and AT&T have said it will be soon, so I'll be patient.

For now.
