Aaaaaaaahhhh!

Good OWC experience-- ordered a 160 gb bus-powered drive and a Belkin ADC-DVI adapter Sunday night, got them thsi evening (UPS standard ground).

I had been trying to have one monitor at the comp and another around the corner to use as a living-room view screen for video; you may recall my thread which lamented the fact that these adapters were nowhere to be had; it resulted in a kind forum user sending me a second video card, but it was only able to show smooth video in dual-desktop mode, and I needed it to work in mirror. I never got around to disconnecting it, so for the past 3 months or so I've been having to switch back and forth from mirroring many times per session because of dissapearing window caps, and subsequently dissapearing desktop files-- ugh.

The adapter, with both monitors now connected to my MDD's stock video card, solved the problem and video is smooth in mirroring, and top-bars are not dissapearing.

So, thanks to:
OWC
BGR
MC13 for helping solve this problem . . .

It's pretty boring actually, just a yellowed 19" CRT at the mac and a 19" LCD around the corner showing the same thing. I'm uploading a vid to youtube now for you.
I plan to stick the 19" LCD at the mac, the CRT in the attic, and get something bigger to mount in the next room on a swivel wall-mount I already have.
I had previously tried using a seperate mac as a media server (for years), but it just works way better having a unified main source with all your files in one place, and with this setup there's no benefit at all to having a seperate "living room" mac.

That's OK, I don't think it was safe for work anyways-- they throw the "f" word around on the video I had up like it's nothing.
