Please Please PLEASE folks, let us nip this "cam" thing in the bud, and not dumb down our language any further! Is it really too much work to type the last three letters of C A M E R A ?? Is it too hard to say those two syllables?

A cam is a projecting part of a rotating wheel or shaft that strikes a lever at one or more points on its circular path. A camera is used to take photographs.
