I have an ip8500, which does not do CD printing ordinarily.
A while back there were a number of threads on our forum about adding the capability to Canon printers. You should find it by STF.
Also, there was info on a camera forum, Steve's Forum, where you should find more about what you need, as well.
It seems that Canon, either doesn't want to pay Philips for the use of their patent or Philips doesn't want to license Canon to use it. I'm not really sure, but that seems to be the basis of why Canon doesn't do CD printing in the US/Canada.
The hardest part was getting the refit parts. There was a gentleman on Steve's Forum that managed to get the parts and sold them reasonably, but I don't know what the situation is now.
Good luck!
BTW, thinking about it for a second, I want to suggest that you forget about the retrofit solution which is fairly expensive for the parts and complicated to do. Instead, just buy a cheapo Epson which has CD printing built-in and just use it for that purpose.
As I always say, "that's just my opinion, I could be wrong."
