Anyone know anything about EL wire?

I've been searching for 12v sound-activated lighting options . . . arrived at this stuff.
Here's a good source . . .
Or so it seems . . . other recommendations appreciated.
Can't find any sort of tutorial though-- you're just supposed to know what this stuff is and how it works.
Anyone familiar?
Can it be strung together?
What do the connectors look like?
Is there a big power consumption difference between the different wire diameters?
What is the power consumption like in general?
Thanks . . .

Try a google using Electroluminescent wire.
TONS of info, stuff has been around for decades!
Uses AC voltage at high frequency to operate which can create problems around unshielded amplifiers so be careful.
I can hear the high pitched squeal that the inverter makes on poorly built EL devices, the Casio watches are one of them.

"Good heavens, Miss Sakamoto! You're beautiful!"
"If we dig precious things from the land, we will invite disaster."
"Near the day of Purification, there will be cobwebs spun back and forth in the sky."
"A container of ashes might one day be thrown from the sky, which could burn the land and boil the oceans."

Uh oh, good info! That would totally negate any benefit.
I spoke to someone at today and placed an order . . . maybe I should cancel?? Would a decent quality car amplifier be considered shielded?
The inverter's going to tap into the same battery as the amps . . .
