$16 pre split ($8 at current valuation) and it was a buttload of stock too.

When I got my first job they gave me money for moving expenses. I could buy an iMac (1998, Rev A 200Mhz G3) or buy AAPL....I figured I couldn't follow the stock without a computer so...I've been kicking myself ever since. Once I found out about Sharebuilder though, I've been investing steadily.

If I include some blocks of stock sold, bought, and sold again, in with the ones I still have... then it's 500%-ish.
What I have right now is at 104%

I just wish I'd have held it ALL, and bought more.

Many of you are computing the % return incorrectly, and need to subtract 100% from what you're claiming. The way you're computing it, if you sold it for exactly what you paid for it, you would be calling that a 100% return when it's actually a 0% return. If the stock doubles, then it's 100%, triples is 200%, etc.

Bought at $20 per share pre-split. Sold it at $22 per share pre-split after it kept bouncing between $16 to $22 for a long time (pre-Jobs). Ouch. OUCH!

I bought 1000 shares @ around $13.00 a share... It's split twice... So, I have 4000 shares $140 per share... I think it's time to sell some and pay off my $3000 in credit card debt and my $100,000 Mortgage and go on vacation for a few days...































OH, I meant, SHOULD OF BOUGHT when I told everyone else to BUY... Still kicking myself. sad smiley

LIFE SUCKS... Why didn't I buy AAPL stock instead of a house... sad smiley

$13,000 would be worth $560,000 today... IF I didn't sell it... Sh**, I wish I had my 20 shares that I bought at 25.00 pre split... At least I would of had $5600.00.

Oh well.

Ok, just checked my E*TRADE account.

2 blocks bought - 1st in late 2000, 2nd in Spring of 2003. . .

Total gain as of today. . .

A whopping 1,827.94%

Now, what do I win? :-)

BTW, I'm LONG-LONG-LONG on this stock. I believe AAPL hasn't even scratched the surface as to how high it will go.

I wasn't pointing fingers, some people (like the initial post) computed it correctly, and some like the post just above my previous post were off by 100%. Just look through the posts where a purchase price was listed and do some quick calculations and you'll see.

Good for you Racer, but I don't think buttload is considered a standard unit of measure for describing a quantity of stock shares.

I bought some around $60 before the split, and then bought more at maybe $88 just a few months ago. I too am in it for the long haul.

Back in 2001 or 2002, I convinced my girlfriend to buy AAPL when it was around $15. It's up some ridiculous percentage, but she didn't buy nearly enough shares. sad smiley
