iLife '06 just arrived, and I now want to back it up onto a DVD.

However, it's about 6.25 gigs, bigger than one DVD. How do I back it up onto 2 DVDs, using Toast 6.1.1? Anyone ever done this?

Do you have a dual layer burner? Pick yourself up a DL disc. The only other way that I know to back it up would be to make a disc image of it and keep it on the hd.

Have you tried iWeb? Do you like it?

The installers packages should be hidden on the disk, Use pacifist to locate them. They might also be dmg files. Search for ".images"

Extract the specific Packages and backup on regular DVD-R or get a DL burner.

I hadn't thought of that Carm. Good idea.

Ok: via Pacifist, I was able to rougly extract each of the components on the iLife DVD. I say roughly because some of them said they were extracting but never did. I solved the problem by further opening up each of those folders and extracting smaller bits of each of them, one at a time.

I then tested to see if what I had extracted were actually open-able apps, and it looked like they each opened up. I'm a little concerned about the location of the other supporting files associated with each app, if I ever need to reinstall from these backups, but there it is.
