As you know Teflon is a no no now according to the Government. We have only been using it for how many years now????

Well, I needed a good soup general boiling chicken covered pan anyway...

Linens and Things has a 20% coupon in last Sundays paper and a 5.5 stainless covered Farberware pan that is super for soup, boiling a whole chicken or whatever. Spaget...good all purpose large pan...WITH NO TEFLON. $19.99 after the mail in $10 coupon to Faberware.

I am probably so full of Teflon at this point in my life it makes no diff but I needed a pan anyway.

Glad you're getting off teflon.

It's tough to beat Amazon's prices on stainless steel cookery. For free shipping, you just have to make sure that it's an Amazon-carried item, not one of their third-party companies.

Teflon in and of itself is fine. The problem is when you heat it too hot and the adhesive/primer underneath it outgasses. That's the toxic stuff. If the pan never gets that hot, and the teflon isn't nicked. It is harmless.

Think of table salt. It is made up of two of the most toxic and reactive elements known to man. Just don't break it down into chlorine and sodium.

Dillard's sometimes has an All-Clad 3-ply stainless "sampler" soup pan and 6 or 7" frying pan for $20 each. They are my favorites and good for small portions. Anything bigger than these is really expensive. The soup pan is hard to fit with other brand lids, though.
