Edit PDFs in Ubuntu

One of the things that has really bothered me about Linux has been the lack of an easy way to edit PDF files. I found that there is now an application that will allow me to do rudimentary edits.

PDFEdit:
wget -c http ://3v1n0.tuxfamily.org/pool/edgy/3v1n0/pdfedit_0.2.5-0+3v1ubuntu1_i386.deb
(remove the space after HTTPsmiling smiley

sudo dpkg -i pdfedit_0.2.5-0+3v1ubuntu1_i386.deb

I've not found an easy way to do it with OS X either, unless one spends about $500 on Acrobat.

For Windows, NitroPDF does what I want for about $100.

I appreciate the heads up as an Ubuntu user. I'll have to take a look at the app when my ThinkPad decides it feels like booting or whenever my Inspiron gets delivered. 7 calendar days and counting and probably another three weeks to go for the latter. Sigh.

What kind of editing can Preview do? I only thought that it could open PDFs, maybe fill out forms. I'd be interested in learning about any other features it has. Was this something that was recently added, or have I just not noticed it in the last 5 years?

OK, I'm talking about inserting images, underlining, highlighting, circling, adding notes, stuff like that.
