Like everyone here, i've seen a alot, but I need some good esoteric jewels to watch this week. Don't be shy and load me up please. And btw, how do you like the "watch it now" feature. I think it's great.

Have you ever seen "Starman" with Jeff Bridges? It's an oldie but a goodie, IMHO.

I've been in a campy bad sci-fi 80's style mood lately. Maybe one of these sounds interesting to you.

I was delighted that the campy, funny, bad sci-fi "Night of the Comet" is finally out on DVD - was not about a year ago when I had last checked. Zombies, valley girls, cheerleaders, guns, and more. Stars Robert Beltran, aka Chakotay from Star Trek Voyager in a performance I'm sure he'd rather forget, although the movie is funny - in an 80's way.

Another is "The Hidden". Stars Kyle MacLachlan - you may remember him from Sex in the City as Trey (Charlotte's first husband) - and I can't describe it better than the Netflix description.

Diligent Los Angeles detective Tom Beck (Michael Nouri) tracks down and arrests a stockbroker who has inexplicably turned into a serial killer in this tongue-in-cheek, sci-fi thriller. Assuming the case is closed, Beck is surprised when mysterious FBI Agent Lloyd Gallagher (Kyle MacLachlan) arrives and wants to continue the investigation. But it appears that the perpetrator isn't quite what he seems to be ... nor is Gallagher!

(Hmm, it didn't mention the bad guy likes to steal Ferraris)

Village of the Damned (Carpenter remake, which isn't nearly as bad as some people said, and I love Christopher Reeve)

... also I've been watching this season's "The 4400" on the USA Network, which has been kicking azz, and therefore redeemed itself from last season which I thought was pretty bad. Plus the actresses on that show are drop-dead gorgeous.

If Netflix has it, rent seasons one and two of the BBC TV series Life on Mars A Birmingham cop gets run down by a car while pursuing a suspect and wakes up as a cop - in 1973. Is he dreaming? In a coma? We really don't know, but his crime-fighting colleagues in 1973 are much less 'by the book' and much more politically-incorrect than the show's protagonist. Great soundtrack too!

Do you like movies involving food? I watched 'Mostly Martha' again the other night, then went to the matinee the next morning to see 'No Reservations' (based on the screenplay for 'Mostly Martha'). It was interesting to see how it had been translated to an American setting - but I don't think Aaron Eckhart worked so well for me as the Batali-alike Italian chef...

Of course you could also try a double feature of 'Eat Drink Man Woman' and 'Tortilla Soup'...
