I've had my Epson 1270 for years now. It worked great in OS 9 but became a little more difficult to use when I went to Panther thanks to Epson not updating the driver! Despite some inconvenient limitations with the printer driver, I still got pretty good color.
A couple of months ago, I upgraded computers to a G5 Dual 1.8 and moved up to Tiger (10.4.100.) Ever since I went to Tiger, I can't get a decent photo printed out of it. I mainly use it for banners and posters since I also have an R1800 for my photos but when I try to print a photo on Photo Quality Inkjet Paper (now called Presentation Paper Matte,) it looks awful. Some of them come out looking posterized. Most of them are way too dark. These are flyers I used to print regularly on the same paper in Panther and got good color.
I've tried printing out Photoshop Elements 3 with it color managed by PSE 3 and I've tried it letting the printer color manage it. I also tried to print it using a PDF version out of Acrobat Reader to see if that helped. No luck.
The ink is from Ink4Art but I've never really had any problems with their ink so I don't think it's that.
The question I have is the profile for the paper useless since Epson never updated them? Is there something else that could be causing this? My monitor is profiled using an Eye-One Display 2 and I get great photos and flyers from my R1800.
Anyone having good color still out of their Epson 1270 and Tiger?
