RIP, John From Cincinnati

Bummer. It was an interesting show, though I can see why it never recovered from the critical drubbing it took when it first came out, and I can see why it was difficult for the typical viewer to wrap their head around it.

Is it too late to bring back Deadwood? Please?

Pity, I quite enjoyed it. Like Deadwood it had a stellar cast. Still we have HBO's Little Britain next year and The Pacific in '09 to look forward to.

I appreciate that HBO gave them the whole ten episodes (or whatever) to see what they could do, but I'm not disappointed to see it go.

I would disagree heartily with the notion that its failing was being too complicated for the average, simpleminded viewer. I found it dumb and pretentious, and poorly acted. Unlike, say, Deadwood, which was pretentious and hammy.

The article mentions Flight of the Conchords, which I watched initially with great reluctance. But I like it, I like it a lot. And Big Love swerved from good to exquisite couple weeks ago. Last night's episode was perhaps the strongest yet, and I'm looking forward to the final two episodes of this season, as well as the story arcs they're setting up for season three. And they managed to do this while making it very hard to like any of the main characters, or pity their plights.

That show was definitely poorly acted (w/sketchy dialog), but I liked it. Sorry to see it go.

Yes. Poorly acted... I'ts apparent the kid was hired because he could surf,
not because he could act. Overuse of the F word.

Flight of the Conchords is great. Fans of The Office and Extras should check it out!

The only reason to keep HBO is that THE WIRE returns for the 5th (and final)
season next year.

peace-

I liked it a lot. There was an obvious link to the dialog patterns of Deadwood, as well as a number of characters.

It was refreshing to have a show to watch that had a mystery in it's dialog as well as its story line. Most TV is soooo obvious.sad smiley

As I always say, "that's just my opinion, I could be wrong." grinning smiley
