is there a 924? I thought the 800/3200 chipset was the 922. or did that get updated?

I don't have FW 800 in anything... so if it has, I've not paid attention.

The 924 is brand new and our first 924 SATA/800/400/USB2 solutions are due out this summer.

We are working on a rack solution for our elite-AL line as well. smiling smiley

I was going to ask that as well. It seems the new thing is to have enclosures that let you hook up SATA/800/400/USB2. Are the drives in those SATA or are they IDE with adapters?

The 924 is straight SATA.

Wow! What does that all mean? SATA? straight SATA? 924 vs 922 oxford? What is the 101 here?

the 924 chipset is designed to support SATA drives. They will be our first external FireWire solutions to use SATA mechanisms.

For connectivity - our solution will have:

eSata
FW800
FW400 supported
USB2

And the SATA is effectively a pass through with hot swap and the FW800/400/USB2 will work just like they do on our current triple interface drives - hot swap, etc.

Good stuff. smiling smiley

also -

the 922 is just FW800 with integrated USB2.

We use the 912 - which is faster for FireWire 800 and 400 than the 922 - in our FW800/400 solutions. We also use the 912 with separate USB2 support on our FW/USB2 triples.

For our FireWire 400 models - we use the latest 911Plus chipset.
