Belkin FD6050 and SSID Broadcasting

Okay, I have two of these annoying Belking FD6050 USB wireless adapters for two slot-loading iMacs in the house. It didn't take long to figure out I couldn't use WEP with them and that MAC addressing would be the only security I could use but I wanted to turn off SSID broadcasting from wireless router and I can't make that work with them either.

My son is using a MacBook and I had not trouble getting it connected when I turned off the SSID broadcasting but I could not configure either iMac with the Belkins to work. Finally, I turned broadcasting back on.

Anyone successfully turned off the SSID broadcasting and got a Belkin FD6050 to work? If so, how did you do it?

Thanks,
Michael
