selling my g4 pbook and need ti install os9 for pro tools free to work.
can't seem to make it install from any apple orig install that I have. no copies.
"this version can't run on your computer" OS 9, 9.1, 9.21, 9.22
I have already installed Tiger on one partition of 3 and it was fine.
I re initialized thinking that maybe OS9 had to go on 1st, but no joy.
any suggestions?

Wich model G4 PowerBook? Only the Titaniums could boot OS-9.

For some of the later ones, like the 1GHz, you might need to original install disks for that model. And even with those I think they way they were organized there was no stand alone OS-9 bootable instll disk, you needed to load OS-9 from the OS-X based install/restore disks.

it's a 1G titanium.
I'll try those discs again.

after some more reading, Apparently it only works with an install of 9.2.2.
Hopefully the orig install discs will lead the way.

not to question your selling tatics, but why not include a version
of iLife's Garageband on the computer instead of Protools Free?
from iLife 04, 05, 06, 08?

I would seriously doubt if any future user would want to boot
into OS9 unless there was a specific, necessary need to.
PTFree although fine is limited and I just dont see os9 to be
a big selling point for a future sale given the maturity of OSX.

just a thought..

Did you initialize the hard drive? And when you did, did you select the checkbox to install the OS 9 drivers?
