anyone have an idea for a source for an orig install CD/DVD for OS 9.2.2?
I've checked ebay and some other ideas.
I'm selling a friend a G4 pbook and want to set up a partition for 9 so that he can learn basic Pro Tools from PT Free, only supported under 9 w/o digi hardware.
It will not work under the installed 9 from the orig pbook disks, even when booted from it.
PT is very picky.

Which PB G4 are you trying to do this on? Only a few can run on the OS 9.2.2 version as an upgrade from a retail version. The highest retail version of OS 9 I have ever seen was 9.2.1. If the PB G4 shipped with OS 9.2.2 installed, the version that came on the installer disk is the only one that will boot it. See the compatibility list for OS 8 and 9 here: [docs.info.apple.com].

15" 1GHz with 9.2.2 orig installed. but I've misplaced that disc and the ones I have for the 1.25 GHz 17" aren't allowing me to install OS 9.2.2 on a separate partition.

That explains it then, the OS 9 supplied on the 1.25 GHz PB only had to work for the Classic environment and never needed to be bootable. Apple has a program for purchasing replacement installer discs, have you checked with them to see if you can still get ones for the 1GHz PB?

nope, 1st I'm gonna try installing 9.2.2 on another G4 and copy it over. Though I doubt that will work.
