Is there a hack for this?

We had a contractor replaced all of our ceiling fans with remote capability in the main house. Now every time we turn on the light or the fan of one bedroom, the fans/lights in other bedrooms including the attached rental comes on as well. All bedrooms are upstairs except the rental. The contractor said since each of these ceiling fans only come with one channel. Hence, we are stuck less we cough up the dough to buy four new ceiling fans! Any helpful suggestion will be appreciated.

Call the Fan manufacturer, we have some Hunter fans with remotes, you can change the channel on ours.
Also the "contractor" should have mentioned this "feature".
Lowest bid installer?

No. The contract didn't mention this feature until after the installation is completed and the payment is made. This contractor comes highly recommended. Neither cheap nor overly expensive.

Since you're still fuming I'll just have to ask straight out.
WHO makes the fan?
Info helps!

we had the same problem with two fans, each from a diff. mfgr.

fortunately, they had 4 dip switches so we had no problem

Dip switches? Hmmm, I would have to find out. There is a LIVE! chat at the lampsplus.com. It's not Mac friendly tho'.

Open up the remote control and see if there are accessible dip switches. If there are, then there should be corresponding receivers in each of the fan housings. Just make sure the remote and fan pair have the same setting (each pair should be different) and you should be good to go.
