TOILETS!!!!!!!

Whoopeee!!! Toilets!! Yahoo!

I'm kind of stuck.

I need a toilet in a "victorian" style . . . it has to be 10" rough-in. All I'm finding is 12". Would like a style something like this:

Anyone got any leads?

Thanks!

why.... I'm sitting on one right now!

AND YOU CAN'T HAVE IT UNTIL I'M DONE.

Do you know the rest stop on I-85 and I-75, where it merges? Whenever I want Victorian, that's the place!

Get anything with the GMAX flushing system.

These are hands down the best toilets you'll ever see. No complicated flushing system, just good, pure, engineering. They have 5 or 6 10" rough-in units.

Don't get any power flushing systems--too noisy and too complicated, and too much more to break and go wrong.

Is this for you or a rental?

Just curious.

If it's for one of your rentals, I wouldn't give them shii...... um, a new one.

Elmo, there are some great toliets there-- Clayton,Dartmouth, Lloyd-- but I don't see a single toilet that's not 12" rough-in.

For me. My old toilet would be kept on hand for a rental emergency (oh wait-- I guess I don't know what the rough-ins are at the buiilding . . .)

I didn't see you could select by rough-in at the toto site.
Looks like there is one option within my parameters:

Anyone know what that bit about the larger than average water-supply rough-in means to me?

Isn't that just a statement that the water in the tank will enter the bowl faster (therefore with more force) with the 3" vs. the 2"?

Dunno-- not sure why it would say "consult your contractor".

Go here:

and choose your rough-in.

Point taken. My house had no toilet when it was built.

Looking for teens/twenties style. "Victorian" would probably be the right word to match the woodwork (1898 building) but art-deco would be the quality of the period I'm going for, right?

*sigh* looks like the Carrolton is my only real option.
~$500 at the place I bought my other fixtures, and in stock in the right color. The bit about the water supply is that the base is kind of wide and if the water supply is too close it will be a problem. Mine's about 3-4" to the left of the edge of the current toilet base, so I think I'm safe.

Your house's first toilet probably had a tank bolted to the wall, a crapper bolted to the floor (similar to today) and a lead pipe connecting the two.
You'd find holes in the wall studs (or rusted lag bolts ) behind where the hole in th floor is ( or was ).

If you have a PVC drain you can find offsets to locate the toilet within 2" where you want.
You probably have cast iron, though.

If you have access to the ceiling below the toilet, it's easy enough to move the water supply. Very easy if you have copper pipe. I'll bet you have threaded iron, though.

Get the softclose seat. Well worth it.

Toto makes the Macintosh of toilets.

Nope.

No siphonic system like Toto's G-Max can compare with the wash down technology of Caroma toilets.

The Toto G-Max supports a 2-1/8" trapway. The Caroma system uses a 4" trapway--the same size as domestic drainpipes. It simply will not plug.

BTW, h': all Caroma toilets support 10-12" rough-in via a unique offset drain adapter.

I think I saw a generic drain adapter demonstrated on the "Ask This Old House" show a couple of months ago. Perhaps it's worth a call to a plumbing supply house.

I have to chime in and profess my love for the Toto...I spend plenty of time on that thing, and not just reading. I put this baby through a healthy workout every morning...wait till Monday morning after the Super Bowl. Toto toilets rock!

I git really excited about that but then I found that there's not a single toilet that comes even close to the style I want (can't get a sense of what they cost either).
