Needing ideas on easy updatable site

My non-tech artsy sister has an arty project that she wants to put online, called the SheProject. I have enough skill to get her the domain, and a basic website up so she could see what one way to do it might look like:

She's very excited, and now wants a way to be able to update the site herself, mainly:

1. Load both a thumbnail and the larger images up on the side in an easy way.
2. Add two or three lines of text for each one ( artist name, etc.)
3. Update some text (maybe. I could do this as well).
4. Optional: a blog or a phpBB-type forum

Aside from a custom template, where she could access an admin panel and upload stuff, is there something already out there that exists that could do something like this? I've never looked into WordPress and some of the other methods for updating a site.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

She's on a PC (but mainly by default. I could get her to switch if the solution was Mac-only).

what about Macromedia Contribute, [www.macromedia.com]

Then there is Plone, [plone.org]
which is built on Zope, [www.zope.org]
as is Silva, [www.infrae.com]
...

Earlier tonight while looking up some info for someone on Mambo (another CMS), I ran into [www.opensourcecms.com], a site devoted to open source Content Management Systems, it allows one to demo open source CMS on systems that are deleted and restored every two hours, also comes with the obligatory blogs, forums, etc.
Very cool.
