Website Security Question for the Web Designers Out There
Posted by: IronMac

Hi all,

Someone on another board had their website hacked into and someone else chimed in with an insinuation that the victim's web designer should have known something about security. I got the impression that they expected the web designer to have chosen a better host or to have taught the victim something more about security.

Maybe he was talking out the wrong hole but what do others here think?

its difficult to say based on what you've provided.

its certainly possible to create an insecure website.

its also common for the less knowledgeable people to make accusation without regard for reality.

Sorry, I went back and read a bit more closely. It turned out that the victim had signed in to a website using the same password as the password that she uses for her own site. The webmaster of that other website then used that password to access the victim's website.

Guess that other poster was talking out the wrong hole then!
