Mac and Kid (5yo) Friendly Digicam?

Some time ago I got a friend set up with a G3/400 iMac (upgraded HD, RAM, and Panther) and she is now looking for a starter digital camera for her 5 year old. All the kid cameras she has seen thus far have only advertised Windoze compatibility. I suspect at least some would work with the iMac and that the compatibility info refers to the bundled software...KidPix would be far better to use to tinker with images than any crappy bundled PC software anyway.

Any suggestions for a fixed focus, point and shoot, Mac friendly, inexpensive, digital camera for an iKid will be greatly appreciated - thanks!

I'd hit ebay- there are probably a zillion cheap cameras you could pick from there, and then the kid could have a real camera without it being a disaster if he/she broke it. Any such camera will work fine with iPhoto.

Get one with good battery life, tho.

Hmmm...

"We bought this for my daughter at Christmas and it is an absolute piece of junk. Picture quality is HORRIBLE!"

doesn't make for a very good recommendation grinning smiley

craigslist for used digicams that people want to get rid of...your kids will like any digicam. My son uses an old fuji that I had...he's fine with it.

Well then... If you don't want used, then it looks like a digicam with 4-5 megapixel resolution is what's best. All listed are below $80.

Don't underestimate the kid, my lad has been using my Nikon P&S (P2) since he was 4, didn't take him long to figure out how to transfer the pictures and add them to iPhoto which isn't as easy as you'd think with the P2.
