Can't wait for a 512MB Nano next

the more I look at the line-up, the more I think it's awfully crowded.

The $149 Nanos will be the ones people give as gifts, and someone receives with perhaps a tad disappointment, I think.

Just $50 more gets you twice as much. $100 gets you FOUR times as much.

Now, if they intro a 6 GB and 8 GB, and move the 2, and 4 down the line, that makes more sense.

...the "$50 more gets you..." perspective.

The form factor is the same in all cases, so 1G seems a little disappointing, the $149 price point not withstanding.

I really want a 6-8G nano.

I'm holding out for a 64MB Nano...for about $10.00
There are only 10 songs I'm interested in anyway, so no need for all that other gratuitous storage.

...nobody really *needs* a nano bigger than 640K anyway.

I can put a TON of songs on my 512MB Nano.

I save them as 32bit MP3s.

They all sound the same, though...

I got my iPod Mini (4Gb) free as part of a rebate promo.

My ENTIRE music collection fits on 2/3 of it.

I'm waiting until I can get a 6gb+ Nano for under $90.
I know, I'll be waiting a while...

That's OK.. my Mini still works and my music collection ain't growing real fast.

Eh, I dunno. My first reaction was, damn, that's dumb. But as I mulled it over I realized I might actually buy one.

See, my next iPod will be two of them, a bigun and lilun. It'd be nice having a video iPod, especially for all the traveling we do with our three year old. But most of my iPod use is while doing yard & housework. I was planning on getting a shuffle for that.

"Just $50 more," you said, SteveJobs. And yeah, that's a good point, but it works the other way, too. 1 gig shuffle is $100. $50 more gets you the screen, multiple playlists, and settings on the nano.

I just wish it was $125 and had a monochrome screen instead. Oh well.

I think a 512MB nano might just be in the offing - think about it - Apple could sell them with preinstalled music and call it the iPod Nano Solo. It would go well with an iMacBook Core Solo laptop...

With the George Lucas Han Solo Special Edition, and the
Man From U.N.C.L.E. Napoleon Solo Special Edition models following immediately after. So retro. So now. So then. So there.

Don't forget, there's a huge teen market out there. $149 is a much more attractive price point for the kid begging their parents for an iPod. Plus, a lot of kids that age don't have expansive music libraries, so that capacity works fine for that type of user.
