. . .missed the Nature Season Premiere last night but it repeated later that evening on PBS HD so I caught it. . .it's PBS so they are bound to repeat it. . .

Silence of the Bees

In the winter of 2006, a strange phenomenon fell upon honeybee hives across the country. Without a trace, millions of bees vanished from their hives. A precious pollinator of fruits and vegetables, the disappearing bees left billions of dollars of crops at risk and threatened our food supply. The epidemic set researchers scrambling to discover why honeybees were dying in record numbers -- and to stop the epidemic in its tracks before it spread further.

Silence of the Bees is the first in-depth look at the search to uncover what is killing the honeybee. The filmmakers of Bees take viewers around the world to the sites of fallen hives, to high-tech labs, where scientists race to uncover clues, and even deep inside honeybee colonies. Silence of the Bees is the story of a riveting, ongoing investigation to save honeybees from dying out. The film goes beyond the unsolved mystery to tell the story of the honeybee itself, its invaluable impact on our diets and takes a look at what's at stake if honeybees disappear. Silence of the Bees explores the complex world of the honeybee in crisis and instills in viewers a sense of urgency to learn ways to help these extraordinary animals.

Also on last night and missed 'Lost Book of Nostradamus' on HIS. . .and HIS also tends to repeat. . .

Could it be that Nostradamus, the "go to" prophet of all time, is reaching forward into the 21st century to give us a last warning? Is it already too late?

In 1994, Italian journalist Enza @#$%& was at the Italian National Library in Rome conducting research on old texts, when she stumbled upon an unusual find in its stacks; a mysterious manuscript dating to 1629. The name of the book was surprising: NOSTRADAMUS VATINICIA CODE. On the inside of the book was the name of the author, in indelible ink—Michel de Notredame—the prophet Nostradamus. This find was particularly remarkable; the manuscript included over eighty watercolor illustrations that were painted by the master prophet himself. Contained in the pages of the book are cryptic, bizarre images that some say are prophecies of our future. Letters, symbolic objects, banners, candles, crosses, and even a burning tower are all included in the manuscript. Are these images visual manifestations of his quatrains, which extend to the 21st century, as some say? How did this book come to be in the library? Why was this book hidden for over 400 years? And are these images so frightening that Nostradamus deliberately hid them, as some say, until their time was near?

This special will follow the investigative trail of how the manuscript came to be found in the archives, and exactly how it got there. The story will also give new insight into the life of Nostradamus—his relationship with his son, Cesar, and his connection to the Vatican—in particular, Pope Urban VIII, who knew about this manuscript and in whose possession it was for many years.

I taped the Nostril-Dumbass show last night, just to see what it's all about.

Not that I believe any of it... my wife asked me to do it.

The Nostradamus volume has about as much chance of being real as any given "alien autopsy" or "new Kennedy Assassination" footage does.

I too taped Nostradamus. I watched it while doing my exercise biking earlier today. I like the History channel, even when they have an "Al Capon's Vault" show like this. It is fun to listen to the explanations for all the prophecies and since we are all toast in 2012 anyway.....grinning smiley

I saw a clip on 60 minutes about the Bees, but missed the Nature hour long show. I didn't realize that farmers actually rent bees to pollinate their crops.

Yeah, I remember the Nostry special that ran on HBO in the early '80s...same story, but doomsday then was I think supposed to be in the '80s or '90s. They move it back from time to time to keep the fear factor up. Nice observation on the Alien Autopsy parallel, Paul F.

60 Minutes also had a bees segment last night. Interesting and alarming.

We here in CA are more concerned about the coming BIG BOOM than the BIG DOOM predicted by Nostradamus.
