A sore spot for me.

4-5 hours.

I just can't go to sleep. I end the day totally exhausted but I fight sleep and at one in the morning I get a second wind and watch a movie that ends around 3-4 AM.

I feel like a zombie.

7 - 8 on days I have work the next day
8 -12 on days I don't work the next day

I work at a grocery store and so my work schedule is not M-F, weekends are nonexistent for me.

as most here, never enough
5-6 weeknights
luckily more on the weekends, most of the time.

6 or 7, depending on when our two miniature schnauzers need to go out, which is usually around 6:30 AM.

My brother has that. Was sleeping in a chair (upright) to sleep before he went to the DR.
Fortunately for him, cutting out (mostly spicey ) certain foods and not eating anything after 6PM, he can almost take no meds. He gave up on beer late, but can still do Rum.

GeneL-I've just been able to go from 2 Prevacid, 1-2 Pepcid AC and 2 Reglan per day to nothing 5-6 days per week with a Gaviscon when I feel a bit of acid--once so far this week.

I was brutal with my diet. Cut back on everything that even might be related-cut back on way more things than my gastroenterologist said. I looked at every seemingly-legitimate medical site and took out everything that any authority suggested. I did this for several months before the daily pain gradually started to diminish. Even then, I kept it up until it was gone for a month. Started and kept exercising throughout. When the pain was gone for a month, I gradaully started reintroducing things in moderation. I really don't know if I can eat everything I want, when I want--I'm afraid it will come back, so I maintain moderation in all the returned foods.

I found my doc was way too cavalier about living with it. I don't want to live with it and am willing to change my diet/exercise patterns significantly to avoid it.

One other thing--if you start taking Reglan, watch carefully for extrapyramidal effects. They are rare, but are truly awful; they are more likely to occur as time goes on. I had some and about flipped out.

Hope this is helpful.

Michael, I had never heard of Reglan so I googled it and based on what the description said, I don't think that it would be for me.

I don't know of any medication allergies, but I've had moderate to severe reactions to a number of medications that had similar side affect warnings especially about depression and anxiety.

I'm already in a permanent state of depression because of the "destruction" of DM and the number of problems I've had with my "new" G5 2.0 tower which includes an escalating battle with Apple and CompUSA over my Applecare coverage.

Two years ago I had surgery called a Lap Nissen Fundoplication [depts.washington.edu] which meant wrapping my stomach around my esophagus to reduce the opening so I would no longer reflux. Unfortunately the operation failed after a while so I am back where I started or maybe even worse.

It is tiring, both literally and figuratively, to suffer the effect of reflux disease. I just don't seem to be as motivated as you to cut out everything that is bad for me. Coffee has been one of the things I most miss.

Thanks for your suggestions.
