SSL Releases LMC-1 Plug-In
January 26, 2006

Solid State Logic, the world's leading manufacturer of professional analogue and digital consoles, is pleased to announce that the LMC-1 Plug-In is now available for PC, joining the Mac version which was launched last year.

Capturing the signature sound of the 'Listen Mic Compressor' from SSL's classic 1980s SL 4000 Series consoles, the LMC-1 delivers a distinctive compression sound perfect for crunching room mics, mangling overdriven guitars or causing sonic mayhem on a vocal track.

Originally intended to prevent overloading on a tracking room 'talkback' mic, the Listen Mic Compressor accidentally became an essential factor in defining the drum sound of the 1980s, when producers famously began patching it into their signal chain to process ambient drum mics.

The LMC-1 Plug-In features fixed attack and release levels and controls for Compression level as well as Input and Output trim and a Bypass switch.

We launched the original Mac version of the LMC-1 last October and it has proved ridiculously popular," says Niall Feldman, SSL's director of product marketing. "Since then, PC users have been clogging our email servers demanding we release the plug-in for them, so we 'accidentally' locked several software engineers in the office over the holiday period and we're now pleased to announce the PC version is ready for download."

LMC-1 is available for PC and Mac, in AU and VST plug-in formats, making it compatible with a wide range of popular software sequencers.
