Ugh, some bad news...

... found out earlier today that the husband of a colleague of mine here just passed away this morning... don't know the reason, and if it was expected or not, but I get the impression it wasn't... she is obviously devastated.

It's just awful; I met him relatively recently, saw him only a few weeks ago, etc. Just a horrible reminder that life is short.

I am thinking of this especially as pertains to AlphaDog's thread below. At least everyone here is just fantastic in terms of being willing to pitch in to help out in terms of covering her classes, etc. What a difference it makes to be surrounded by genuinely supportive people.

Too easy to take things for granted. Like you said; life is short.

Too much sadness today.

I sit on a man’s back, choking him and making
him carry me, and yet assure myself and others
that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his
lot by all possible means — except by getting off
his back. - Leo Tolstoy, novelist and Philosopher

Sorry to hear that.
I lost a close friend in a car accident this summer, it is hard.
I still want to call or email him sometimes, and then it hits me again.

A good time to review your life insurance policy. I scheduled a review with my agent just yesterday. Money doesn't substitute for the loss but can smooth out some transitions.
