Any One Like Geoff Muldaur

I am looking for some hard to find CD's . I am getting back into my folk/roots era.

What musicians from this genre do you like?

I started thinking about a songwriter from my area Bobby Charles, and it led me into Paul Butterfield, and Muldaur. Charles was also involved a bit with "The Band". He has written hundreds of songs. Probably most notably "Walking To New Orleans" recorded by Fats Domino

I love Tennesse Blues, by Bobby Charles, sung by Muldaur.

Here's a good place to search: [www.musicstack.com]

There are some links on his site: [geoffmuldaur.com]
Maybe they sell his older stuff.

Some of the Band members' albums after breakup are superb. Levon Helm's new one "Dirt Farmer" got rave review in SF Chronicle. [www.levonhelm.com]

What they did and individual's albums.

All time greats. Music from Big Pink caught me by surprise and hooked me. 1969?

Not really the best but real good. Each album has so many different styles. For a real thrill get the DVD of "Last Waltz". Everybody showed up out of respect to join in. Amazing. Rock of Ages is a treat.

Best song? The Weight.

I saw the Band in New Orleans around 1994 and got right up close. Rick Danko was fun to watch.

Been a fan of Muldaur since the Jim Kweskin Jug Band, when Maria was still D'aMato.

Still is, and one of the great underappreciated blues singers of the day (that day being today).

I saw the "Last Waltz" when it first came out. We drove to Baton Rouge to a really neat old Movie Theatre.

It was a big deal because some of the group that went to see it were local musicians and were friends with Bobby Charles who sang back up in it. The one film clip showing him ended up on the cutting room floor. He was given credit.
