My Trans Am will max out at 135. I try to do it once a year. It has a short rear end with a four speed. The automatics are faster. I have gone faster (on the ground),but not much. He He!
Next question, How fast can you back er down.

175 miles per hour on my ZX-11.

It's not something I do all the time but a known, good road without traffic...

135, AFIK. The speedometer pegged (although I am pretty sure it was numbered up to 150). At 4AM, in a 96 Avenger ES, northbound on the 5, somewhere south of the Oregon border, but north of San Francisco. Just to see how fast it would go.

It was actually a pretty nimble car at 70-85 mph, but it didn't handle at all well above 110. Getting it to 135 was white knuckle territory.

150 in a pace car at Road Atlanta before the race, much slower during the race.

Scared the hell out of me. The track announcer told the driver to slow it down!

130 in my old S600 Mercedes just for a few minutes, but 100 was nothing in that car.

140 at 5 grand on the tach in my GSX with a passenger and a full tank of gas. Over 4500 lbs that day. Since the motor tops out about 6500 for sustained rpms, I figure around 165-170 before air friction overcomes brute force.

Better question would be the fastest you were ticketed for, sort of to eliminate exaggeration, not that anyone here might do that. Fastest was 128 in a '65 Buick Electra which would do 70 in first, 105 in second and I never did top it out. Ticketed for 105 in a 70 zone in the same Buick on my way home from school, clocked from an airplane. I clocked 140 in a retired Plymouth police interceptor with a 440 ci engine but I didn't trust the speedometer. It had more room to go but the tires weren't reliable. I not sure how I survived my teens and very early 20's...

I haven't had a speeding ticket in at least 15 years.

115 in my 1964 Pontiac Catalina convertible. Started to feel pretty light at that speed, but it didn't have much trouble getting there. A bit faster in my youth I think.

150 or so on my motorcycle (speedo pegs at 150) before I got smart and backed it down. The tach redlines at 13500 and I was only around 11500, not sure how much faster it would have gone but decided enough was enough.

Only 90 something in both my old '86 Acura Integra (on PCH near Zuma) and in my '93 Subaru Impreza Wagon (on the 70 in Denver.)

Both cars were suprisingly happy above 90 although it took a bit of work for them to get there, especially the underpowered and AWD Soob.

I might've been over 90 in my Jetta Wagon turbo but if I was I didn't notice since the damn thing is so quiet and goes quickly with so little effort.

I went to visit an ol' college buddy of mine and he had built
a Mustang street-legal drag car. He said lets go for a ride.
This thing had a full rollcage, electronic rev limiters, you
name it it had it plus over 600hp. He drove to a steet that
paralleled the railroad track and stopped and said hold on.
He punched it and hit 120 in about 4 seconds. Man what a ride
that was and by looking at the outside of the car, with
exception of the interior rollcage, it looked like a nearly
stock Mustang GT. He had all this electronic stuff up under
the dash, it was awesome.

144 before running out of road in my GTO, it's limited at 155 (uncorked, supposedly 181). Is stable up to about 135 with summer tires, 110 with the winter tires is all I want to try....

140 mph on I-40 in the RTP in central NC, 1988 Cougar XR-7, 5.0 HO engine.
Got a ticket for 88 in a 55 zone a few months later. (I had just slowed down for a curve)
Sold the car shortly thereafter.
Scariest ride was in a friends Triumph Spitfire, eventually worked the thing up to 105 on a
long, straight flat road. We hit an expansion joint and got airborne.
I was sitting on the trunk lid, one foot wedged under each seat, while Dave and Kenny were in the actual car. Scared the crap out of all of us.
I got my license in the era of the Dukes of Hazzard tv show. It is a wonder that any male of that age lived to be 18 years old.

Years ago about 120 in an Pontiac Lemans.

At about the same time, ticketed for 95 on the interstate (?) through the foothills of the peninsula in the Bay Area before it opened.

Last night, 45 while snowing coming off Monteagle in TN; passed by lots of cars/trucks doing 60 or so. I've aged.

Not counting driving school...

Whatever a 10.6 et/qm at OCIR in my Squareback comes out to

152 on the southbound 2 Fwy on my Seca 750, never went over 100 after that, soon sold.

160 in a rented Countach on the H2 on Oahu as a very nervous passenger.

53 downhill on a cane haul road on Oahu's North Shore on my Cannondale SM900

134 in my Audi Quatro on Kam Hwy on the downhill to Haleiwa. My favorite all time fun car to drive.

68 mph
I'm a wild one.

I've not gotten a third speeding ticket in 18 years.
Second and last was 1988 for $225 in Ma. on 495 North
First was for $135 on the Pa. Turnpike in 1982. Policeman was easy/empathetic with the pen.
My catch ratio is about 1/100.
Fastest I've gone since 88 is about 75. (road vehicle )
I plan on keeping it that way.

Young and stupid is stupid.
Old and stupid is .. . well, worse.

Last time I had blue lights behind me was for driving much too perfectly.
Cop must've thought I had a body or kilos inn the trunk. We both laughed.

I need to dig up my Moroso slide rule. That sounds like nitrous and/or blower territory with a big block, and probably over 1000 hp. (and a far more than a we bit dubious).

There's a difference between US miles and UK miles but I can never remember what it is. Hopefully your hours are the same but maybe if someone can tell me the conversion I might know what my maximum is in relation to yours.

Gosh and we were always told that everything in the US was bigger. smiling smiley

It's late here so my brain just did a walkabout...I remember now it's your gallons that are different. I knew it had some connection with cars.

OK then, fastest? Never quite made the 150, probably about 3 or 4 short. Going back to the gallons I would hate to know how much fuel I was using at the time!

The UK pint is bigger than a US pint (20 oz vs. 16 oz), as is a UK gallon (4.545 liters vs. 3.785 liters).

0 to 120 in Four seconds? Maybe 12 seconds, but not in four.
That takes about 1400 HorsePower.
Unless the "stock looking" Mustang only weighed about 1200 pounds.

MacArtist, the cycle I referred to was a Suzuki 1200 Madura. I had it from '88 to about '90. I had a 1300 Yamaha Venture Royale dresser for a while after that, what a nice ride for over the rode trips! Currently I am cycle-less, but have been looking at the newer style Yamaha Royal Star Ventures. Really look nice! To tide me over until then I'll just have to get by with borrowing my dad's new Goldwing when I get the itch to ride. smiling smiley

Yep, and the 427 Cobra did 0 to 100 in about 10 seconds.
It did 0 to 100 to 0 in 13.7 seconds.

0 to 120 in 4 seconds?
In a streetable car, no way.
