It is 32 Degrees here in Atlanta...

Supposed to be a low of 22. The next few nights the lows will be in the teens. The wind is really blowing outside today.

When it gets this cold here my condo is hard to heat, without spending a fortune.

The new oil filled radiator is doing a good job of keeping my master warm and I closed the door to the second bedroom upstairs.

The downstairs is all open. I am trying it with the kitchen closed off and the powder room closed off to see if I can keep heat in the living dining area, with a space heater for a boost.

I am keeping the whole house furnace on 62.

Heard you got some rain down there recently.

Do you have winter sweaters for your doggies?

Sorry, hard to sympathize here in Minnesota. It's 1 above at the moment, and will get down to -9 during the night. Lots of blankets on the beds tonight.

You're balmy compared to northern IL. 30MPH winds making for a wonderful 19 below windchill earlier this evening. It's currently -1 real temp here.

Going to be a nasty next couple days here.

Good Luck!

I was grilling out today, wearing shorts and sandals.
(Wilmington, NC area)
Tonight will be in the twenties, and wind chills too cold to think about.
Darn these quick changes!

It is 2º F here in North Central Iowa. Supposed to get down to -3º F tonight.

Coldest night of this winter. Brrrrrrrr!!!!!!

decocritter, I will trade you.

We are keeping our house furnace set on 64º. 1800 sq. ft. A vintage 1980 furnace that I need to replace it with a more efficient model. The old one just won't die (knock on wood).

With sustained bitterly cold temps; the utility bill would be around $325-350 this month. Not good.

If we can make it through a few cold days; the forecast is calling for 50º F on Saturday. That would make an excellent January thaw!

People wore shorts on the beach this morning in North Florida, but tonight it will get down to 22. The winter cold front has arrived.

Here in the Napa Valley 38 degrees and going down to not very brutal 31 but homes and apartment buildings unless more recently built have no insulation or dual pane windows.

You wonderful survivors in Minnesota and other parts of the Great White North take pride in the cold. Admit it. Go out and take some shots at the circling wolves. Digital that is. Unless you have livestock.

Oops it is dropping fast, now 27 - 30 degrees in the surrounding area. Wind has dropped to 20 mph.

I know some of you have it much worse, I hope your houses are built for it.

I have several blankets on my bed, and the mattress warmer is on.

My little baby chi, keeps her sweater on when it it below 60 degrees. She will go and get it if she is cold. She has been given quite a selection of coats. Her favorite is a corduroy car coat by Woolrich. She does not mind clothes, as long as they are not "silly" and are functional. She is no "Paris Hilton" fashion accessory dog!

She is a good little bed warmer, as she likes to snuggle up against my back.

Yes we did finally get some rain, I was afraid of basement flooding, too much to fast, but everything is ok. I just hope the wind stays calm, and no ice, so we don't lose these big trees around here due to the drought.

Doh! It was about 75 here in Santa Monica today. Looks like more of the same tomorrow. Just heated back up in the last couple days after being rather cool for about a month (at least for around here).

Stay warm over there!

First thing I heard on Channel 11 news this morning was a big tree down for exactly those reasons. But, if it's only 1 tree that made the news, it ain't so bad.

Twenty degrees outside now at 7 am north of Atlanta; got a fire going.

That cold is supposed to make it here in Ma. today, high tomorrow of 19. Maybe.

If that condo is hard to heat in the Winter, it must be hard to cool and dehumidify in the Summer.

On my side of Atlanta, it was HORRID! My bedroom to 59 degrees because I keep the supplemental Window Unit A/C in place all year when I am here.... (in the summer to drop room to 59 degrees!).

So the draft that I never patched and the heat leak through the unit made it JUST AWFUL in here!

Good thing I have a heated mattress pad and electric blanket. The kitty likes it - especially after one of his thrice daily water injections.

I did go outside last night in my undies..... it was cold-ish. I forgot to get the paper.

PeterB, 32 in New Orleans is a lot colder than 32, say, here in Little Rock. It's a humid cold there, and it goes right through you. Here, I can go outside with no jacket when it's sunny and in the 30s and just be a little chilly. There, that's asking for frozen nostrils and the shivers.

And FWIW I woke up to a temp of about 20 this AM.

Zoid, having lived in Boston for about 15 years, I'm simply unimpressed by people here who say "it's cold!" -- Boston is about as humid as NOLA sometimes, and frankly I really enjoy this kind of weather. Now all we need is a little snow. grinning smiley

Yeah, I know.

I took today off, but instead of sleeping in, I got to drive my wife's car over to the shop first thing this morning.

Oh, did I mention the reason it had to do to the shop is, her driver's side window motor is broken?

Yeah. That was a cold drive.

Wow, it's 54 degrees in Miami.

I bet there aren't too many locals on the beach (or even outside).
Last time I was there and the high for the day was 62, anyone who ventured out had winter coats on, mittens scarfs and hats. Kinda funny considering I got off the plane walked outside and realized I still had themals on and had to go back into the airport to change.

Here in Michigan we didn't get the really cold temperatures yesterday. The temps were around 30 but got a foot of snow instead. The snow is really pretty and I love it when you don't have to go anywhere. I was holed up for a couple days with no need to leave the house, watching football, etc. It was great.

Starting today (Wednesday), no more snow but the temps are steadily dropping. This morning it was about 25 and it's downhill to the single digits for the next couple days. But by early next week it's supposed to be in the 50s.

PeterB - Beware; it seems that a winter snow usually precedes a flood event year. I'm not an Old Wife, but that's my tale. So to speak.

Zoid, no snow, yet... apparently the high pressure system that's giving us the cold air is also preventing any precipitation from entering the area. So we've got cold temps AND low humidity... currently reading 34 degrees, but only 35% humidity... cold but not damp.

Her G4 powerbook's weather widget showed 68 would be the high of today so she had left the central heater on before leaving work this morning. At 1:30 P.M. I came home to an oven of a house. My MBP's Yahoo weather showed 86!

SoCal for now.
