The name is not retired fully, just benched. It was getting tedious explaining to people the tongue in cheek nature of it. I would have changed it a long time ago on the other forum but I didn't want to lose my post count winking smiley

The new name has a mac slant and is still similar in form.

I've been thinking about retiring this handle & returning to an old one, or making a new one.
what started as a departure from dealchat.com (remember that?) seems like it could easily be misconstrued as something racist (which it most certainly is not).

I hate trying to register on a forum and finding out the name Monster is taken, it's even worse when never a post has been made.

Since the "FranX" name was pretty much a result of events at DM, I left the name there. It's the only place it's used.

My existing one stems from me not coming up with a name. I had to come up with a login name for an account many years ago. I worked at a bike shop, picked this name. Got into PC gaming and needed a handle, wasn't really sure. A friend was making name plates so I had to pick one ASAP so I just went with "mavic" since I already used it. He added the caps and spaces on the name plate and it has stayed the same ever since.

It's funny to read people's takes on why my name is in caps and has spaces.

They've made a lot of stuff. Probably best known for their wheels and hubs, they have also made brakes, chains, cassettes...

Someone misspelled porn it and I was already "al caholic" from a Bart simpson phone call. I changed it to pron for a week, or so I thought. It was a good time to bench the name as other factors change in my life.

w/ MAVIC's color changing sig widget, every time (almost, anyway) it comes up red, it reminds me of my old red Ciocc road racing bicycle w/ Mavic wheels... had a feeling their was some bike in there somewhere. as long a pRON, oops, I mean pRICE, keeps his recognizable sigs and wit intact, MRF will be fine...


Sometimes it is what it is...
and then there's times when it's really better.
