One of the first reports I've seen and by OWC Jamie none-the-less:

Hopefully just a firmware or one off hardware issue.

Still working fine since I shut energy saver off..... we shall see. But seriously, I saw the report on XLR8YourMac, turned around, and the machine was in sleep mode. Would not wake. Hard rebooted, came right up, I had to do some other things, and when I got back to it about 15 mins later, exact same thing.

I'll be interested to see if others report issues.

Good Luck!

No kidding. Those Mac Pros run so cool (compared to the G5 dualies), it's no wonder they're freezing!

It is what it is.

Stock as stock can get. The base 2.8GHz, 320GB/2GB RAM, low end ATI card.

Good Luck!

The exact default 2.8GHz 8-Core. The only config that would ship without any delay.

I'd not call the video card low end, lol. smiling smiley

My refurb iMac has been doing that too. I finally sat down and dissected the error report that it wanted to send to Apple. Apparently something was wrong with one of my external drives. I moved the data off of the drive and reformatted it. Seems to be working now. It crashed 5 times in 10 minutes.

I'll bet a million bucks it turns out to be driver problems with the ATI video card.

I can just "picture" Jamie and Larry sitting in adjacent stalls at work, posting away on the company wireless network , arguing about the tower........ while pooping
