One of the first reports I've seen and by OWC Jamie none-the-less:

Hopefully just a firmware or one off hardware issue.

Still working fine since I shut energy saver off..... we shall see. But seriously, I saw the report on XLR8YourMac, turned around, and the machine was in sleep mode. Would not wake. Hard rebooted, came right up, I had to do some other things, and when I got back to it about 15 mins later, exact same thing.

I'll be interested to see if others report issues.

The exact default 2.8GHz 8-Core. The only config that would ship without any delay.

I'd not call the video card low end, lol.

My refurb iMac has been doing that too. I finally sat down and dissected the error report that it wanted to send to Apple. Apparently something was wrong with one of my external drives. I moved the data off of the drive and reformatted it. Seems to be working now. It crashed 5 times in 10 minutes.

I'll bet a million bucks it turns out to be driver problems with the ATI video card.
