Ice Bowl II

Getting ready to watch the Packer-Giant game

It's -1º Wind chill -16º

It's been freakin' cold here all weekend. Got up to 3º here in Madison. A little breeze is torture. I've lived in WI more than half my life and no one gets used to this kind of cold. I cannot imagine playing football in this weather.

First off, I am a Bears fan so I have to root for anyone playing the Packers. smiling smiley

I am a firm believer that football should be played outdoors and domes should be banned. I also believe that these guys get paid BIG $$ to play once a week for 5 months out of the year and should suck it up and play in bad weather.

All that said, playing football, outdoors, on a day like today is akin to cruel and unusual punishment IMHO. Nobody should be outside for an extended period of time for any reason and I feel a little guilty watching the game and hoping that one of the teams loses.

It's so cold that Jimmy Johnson doesn't need hair spray, just water and freeze.

It's painful just to watch this game. I'm a Southern boy, I can imagine how much this must suck for Eli Manning.

Then again, I really don't care all that much for Eli, so I can't say I'm sympathetic... winking smiley

Kraniac- yeah, I know I should cheer for the division but I just can't bring myself to do it. If it were anyone else but the Packers I'd be supporting them 100%. I just had the same argument with my dad and my brother in law! smiling smiley

Overtime. Good game. The Giant coach is a giant jerk.

Ok, now the question. Will Favre retire or will he give it "one more year"?

And now it is official, I have no interest whatsoever in the Superbowl this year. smiling smiley

Man I was rooting for the Pack for two reasons:
1) Bret Favre. I just like the guy.
2) Since the Bears beat the Packers twice this year, it would be Super Bowl by proxy for them.

But it was not to be, I now have no interest in this super bowl either.

Count me in there too but I must admit the kid has surprised me over the last few games. I didn't think he'd have the stuff to take the beating he was taking on and off the field but he has stood in there.

The kid deserves to go the the show, IMHO.

As a long time Packer fan (going back to the Lombardi years), I'm extremely disappointed at the outcome of this game, but, in all fairness, the Giants did outplay the Packers, and deserved to win. I'm willing to bend over & take it like a man. And I'm rooting for the Giants to upset the Patriots. I have a brother & sister that both live in Manhatten.

Unless the demographics have suddenly changed sports and Manhattanites mix like oil and water. Most fans come from the other boroughs or northern New Jersey which is coincidentally where the "New York" football teams play.

So much of the talk about Farve having the cold weather advantage of Eli.

That "cold weather team" stuff is all b.s., in my opinion. Almost all of these players are from the south or the west coast. They were not brought up in this kind of weather.
