Speak Italian? Wanna tell me how to say something?
Posted by: (vikm)

I'm looking to buy something from Italy on ebay and I want to ask them the condition of the item. I'm looking for someone to translate this if possible. And please don't have me saying something like, " I quite fancy your wife's knickers" or anything like that winking smiley

I was gonna use babelfish but figured I'd try here first so I don't say something wrong.

"Can you describe the condition of the item, please?"

Thanks!

Don't forget, if you're talking Italian, it won't sound right without this:

Thanks for the suggestion but as noted in my initial post I know it's not always that accurate and was looking for help here first.
Thanks again.

Do what Max does, just say Mama Mia with flailing arms and a blank expression.

I would try Babelfish for translation one way (English > Italian), then enter the results into another translation site for the Italian>English and as long as they are somewhat consistent, I'd go with that.

I'll let you know after the auction is over. So far, so good, though.

And JoeM, you'll have to excuse me as I'm a German/Irish (or is that Irish/German) from Pennsyltuckey (semi-close to Philly... does that almost count?).

Again, thanks for the follow-ups (yes, even your soccer loving self SLM)
