Well, new to me that is. An elderly gentleman I help out will be buying a new iMac any day now and wants me to get rid of his last computer after erasing discs etc. It was going to Freecycle but I might have some fun with it for a while .

His first computer was an Apple SE30 and then ten years later he traded up to this 5500/275. He hoped it would last until he was ready to buy an iMac but as a temporary measure I found an exceedingly cheap G3 iMac a few months ago so that he could use broadband at broadband speed and not dial-up speed which is what he was getting. A new Apple every 10 years.

When I said I would get rid of it for him I didn't expect it to be ready for collection in its original box with what looks like all original inner boxes and packaging etc. inside.

I had a lesser version of this, the Performa 5320 which was slower but still had the built-in TV.

Hand me down LEADER!

The box & packaging makes it a collectible.

eh, a Performa gets more of a Resurrection Follower. An Se/30 would get an Antique Leader. A Lisa would get a Collector Leader !

How much will it cost to max out?

Max RAM is 128MB and it's there already. I remember replacing his HD a while back so it probably is a 4GB but I have a few spare larger ones around but it probably cannot play with much more. I know there is a PCI slot that was taken up by something, forgotten what now, but I removed it to put in a USB card with 4 ports. Must look and see if the original whatever is still around.

Nice find! Does it come with a remote for the TV functionality? Like the Performa 630 TV add in card?

I haven't seen a "Directors Edition" 5500 before either. I was thinking the Mac TV was the only black one.

Most Sony remotes work with that one as well. I remember seeing a G3 upgrade card for that one too...
