How much is an iPod 2g 20 GB in mint condition worth these days?

I would guess not more than 20-30 bucks, but I was surprised to see this Best Buy affiliate appraises it at $61

It's a FireWire iPod 2nd Generation, no dock connector, touch wheel but click buttons, BW display. in mint condition.

$61? Maybe I should sell mine smiling smiley

Gulp! Was the battery on the 3rd gen even any good anymore. Mine doesn't hold a charge very long. But if I could get anywhere near $75-100 for it....

My 2nd gen. 10GB is still going strong. No problems with the battery.

Same here, my 2nd gen 20GB is doing well, battery is still holding its own.

$61 surprises me as well, but it's a solid little unit. Might I trade mine in for $61? Probably not.

My Gen2 10GB has been treated to a high cap NewerTech battery and can run for more than 16 hours nonstop!

Big difference between the 2nd and third generation (hint-- there's a reason they abandoned the firewire connector)

If you're using a Mac with FIreWire and no USB 2.0, up to a 4th gen iPod is what you want. FW is much faster than USB 1.1.

h' is right about the FW connectors on the top... to much sideways stress and you'll crack the solder.

I agree that 4th gen is a bit of a sweet spot, although this has nothing to do with the original question at this point.
Anyone who has a FW iPod with a still-functional port has been very good to it.

I sold my 20GB 3g iPod on Craigslist for $75 last month. Probably too cheap, but I just wanted to get rid of it. Hadn't used it in well over a year. Several people tried to low-ball me, but I got the full $75.

$75 is about right for that iPod, especially if you included a case, USB cable, or any extras.

You can get a used 30 GB iPod video for $100 if you hunt & are patient.
