OT: Suggestions for good hifi for bedroom ...

I have (don't ask me why I bought it) a TEAC about 100 CD player, amp, and 2 deck tape player (all separate units)

The tape play is excellent but who uses tapes anymore? I have recorded CDs from the family tapes I have, I only want a 3-5 CD player, the Amp might come in handy SOMETIME but when after I finish with the vinyls to CD I'm going to do with CD recorder....really won't need anymore..........

.....so.....what I want is an all in one unit for the bedroom that fits on an end table about 20x20 something like the $$$$$ Bose unit but I don't think my ears will absorb that much good wave sound.

Any suggestion for something reasonably price with good sound? I have some excellent small German speakers.

Friends don't let friends buy Bo$e.

Here's a great resource if you want to get into audio, you can post your question over there and should get some good responses.

Lots of DIY help, but you should be able to get some help finding a decent pre-built system.

Careful. You're really dating yourself using an expression like "Hi-fi".

Sorry chief but Bose rock. I even photographed Dr. Bose. Cool guy.

An alternative is this:

Funny to see someone rip Bose in an Apple forum. Pots, kettles, black.

Computer speakers and an iPod.

I suffer from the same sensitivity that you do. A few nuggets of wisdom were shared with me and I'm "trying" to incorporate them into my life. First, remember that nobody can hurt your feelings unless you let them. You can always reject what is being forced on you emotionally.
Second, nothing changes unless you change it. If you don't want the behavior to be repeated then you need to take action. Otherwise the kid has learned that his behavior is the way to get things done, because everyone lets him get away with it.
In the meantime I sympathize because I've been there.

Move over and make room for me . . . three rips now. the only thing that Bose does better than most is AGGRESSIVELY pricing their product out of the ballpark. Quality sound it is NOT.

Rip #4, and I own a Bose radio and Bose car stereo (and my bro' has one of their "fancy" systems. I have found that the Bose stuff has average sound but extremely high prices. Also, they tend to use cheap, nondurable components (car speaker cones for example) that don't hold a candle to much better and cheaper stuff on the market. 90% marketing, 10% substance.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan
