Now here's a switch on MSFT/Yahoo....

It was reported on the WSJ radio program this a.m. that Google is helping YAHOO to find some other buyer other than MSFT! (I think Google owns a small amount of Yahoo)

This struck me as funny, but I suppose understandable. Let's see the hands on who is likes MSFT?

Google quote:

In corporate news, Google Inc. said Sunday that Microsoft Corp.'s $42 billion bid for Yahoo Inc. amounts to an attempt to gain illegal control over the Internet.'

I saw a story that implied that it is a desperate attempt for Microsoft to stay viable. I agree with that sentiment. Vista and Office 2007 was supposed to the hot setup but has flopped. I heard that less than a third of all new computers shipped with Vista even though it is all some retailers offer.

If there was a little more 'idiot-friendly' distribution of Linux that came with something like OpenOffice installed, Microsoft could be in big trouble.

I hope Microsoft is successful in this bid. It will be a huge cash burner and a big distraction.

Roadkill.

Go, monkeyboy!

That was what I was thinking too. Reminds me of when AOL bought Netscape.
