macbook ate the CD

Following on an earlier post about a non-ejectable CD
[forums.macresource.com]

I took it to the Apple store and the genius couldn't get it to eject; it seems that they no longer have the paper clip eject hole. So, I have to leave the 30 day old machine there for "5 to 10" days while they get a new optical drive in.

The CD in question was given to me by a PC colleague so it may not have been readable, but isn't it weird that to get it out, you have to get a new part???

It's likely that you accidentally got peanut butter on the surface of the CD.

MacBooks are known to LOVE peanut butter.

It's not the CD the Macbook wanted to eat, but the smell of peanut butter makes their optical drives go just...crazy. It's a known issue. It should be fixed in the next hardware rev.

funny, the guy did ask me specifically about peanut butter, so it is clearly a known issue w/ this unit.
