OT: Water well pump won't come on.

I use the well only for watering the yard since I got rural water. It hadn't been used for a few months and was insulated during the cold season. I went to turn it on and the pressure regulator and pump didn't come on. The pressure tank gurgled awhile and that was it. There was cool condesation on the bottom third of the pressure tank. I tripped the breaker and it didn't fix it. The pressure gauge is stuck on 15 PSI. The wiring inside the gauge looks OK. Will a bad pressure regulator keep the pump from coming on? Where do I start?

Try taking regulator and or pressure gauge off and clean inside pipe. Rust may have built up and caused it not to read true pressure. Worth a shot.

The water is extremely rusty. That sounds logical. Would that keep the pump from turning on?

The pump pressure switch is what turns it on and off. Turn off the power and see if the contacts are closed. If they aren't, try to manually close them (the mechanics could be stuck).

If they are closed you need a voltage tester to see if you are getting power to and through them.

This is the pressure switch.

I had to replace it several years ago. It's probably time again. I hope that's all it is.

Your pump need to be primed? (I realize I'm leaving myself open [not again?!] with this question.)
